If you are an Arizona outdoor enthusiast, you know the Mogollon Rim is a special space to explore.  But you won’t be the first.  Some better-known names associated with these ponderosa forests are General Crook and Zane Grey. But apparently a herder named Runyon C. Kinder ran sheep up and down the steep canyons near Clints Well in the late 1880’s. That’s where you’ll find Kinder Crossing, a canyon oasis on East Clear Creek.  The trail to the bottom is dotted with all the usual Arizona wildflowers, but near the water’s edge, A patch of wallflowers caught my eye. They were not the typical shade of yellow, but a wonderful deep orange, perfect for attracting butterflies and flower hunters like me.
