“Room for Rest”
Outhouse – Mormon Row, Grand Teton, WY
12×16 oil on canvas $750
The Moulton barns near Mormon Row in the Grand Teton National Park are some of the most photographed barns in the world. Built by homesteaders in the early 1890’s, in the late afternoon they glow with light that is the perfect complement to the deep blues of the Teton range behind them. But I painted the outhouse, not the barn, because I loved the contrast of the little confining outhouse to the vast and grand space of the Tetons. Wild places like these are awe inspiring, and give rest to the soul.
