Meet Heidi and Todd and their sons Josh and Tommy. Tommy, just one year ago, was an orphan in Ethiopia. Today he is home in Arizona!
There are more than 130 million orphans and fatherless children in the world today who have lost one or both parents. More than 1/3 of Americans have considered adoption, buy only 2% actually adopt. Adoption can cost between $10,000 and $45,000. The solution is simple; break the financial barrier that stands between family and orphans. Show Hope is an organization that does just that. They award grants to families who are in the midst of adoption and need financial help. The average grant is $3000, which is a huge help to these families.
Last year at “One Night, One child” at Bonner David Galleries, we raised enough money to fund one adoption grant. One child was brought home to his forever family. One child named Tommy.
This year at “My Arizona” benefitting Show Hope, you’ll meet Tommy. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the Thiele family. They are another Arizona family who have 4 biological kids, one child from Russia, and one from China. They are in the process of adopting three older children from Ethiopia.
Won’t you help me Show Hope to Orphans? Go to www.showhope.org to learn more.
Mark your calendar for January 8th for “My Arizona”. Let’s raise enough for three grants this year!

“My Arizona" New Paintings and their stories by Dyana Hesson
Special preview night Benefiting Show Hope, bringing hope to orphans
Bonner David Galleries, Scottsdale AZ
My Arizona is a place were diversity abounds, from the arid regions of the desert to the thick green forests of the high country. These paintings will capture the amazing things that grow in our botanical gardens, as well as the nurtured flowers that grow in a friend’s back yard. I love an adventure and I love to share what I have learned in a way that might encourage someone to step out and try something new. Most important to me, are the relationships I have here in Arizona, they are precious to me. “My Arizona” will be an amazing show of well painted botanicals used to illustrate the wonder that lies in my home state. So, hang on for the ride, and come see Arizona in a whole new light.

*Shaohannah’s Hope, Circle of Love is a special painting created by Dyana Hesson to signify a family created through adoption. Although the tulips are different colors they are unified in the eternal symbol of the circle. Dyana, being adopted herself hopes to illustrate how beautiful these families are, and to compel her audience to consider adoption for their families.

Shaohannah’s Hope is a charity that was founded by Steven Curtis and Mary Beth Chapman that is dedicated to helping prospective adoptive parents overcome the financial barriers associated with adoption. They accomplish this by awarding financial grants to qualified families already in the process of adopting.
Adoptions can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $35,000, so there is a real need to overcome these financial barriers and link generous hearts with willing families waiting for children.

October 12, 2007
Location: Bonner David Galleries
October 12th marked a milestone for Bonner David Galleries; celebrating a 5th year anniversary as well as a grand re-opening of their newly expanded gallery space. Clients, friends, artists and family celebrated the redesigned spaces and enjoyed the newest works from the talented Bonner David artists. The refined landscapes of Romona Youngquist, skyscapes of Rich Bowman as well as the botanicals of Dyana Hesson, and the crisp still lifes of Cary Ennis and Katherine Lemke Waste looked sophisticated in the traditional side of the gallery. Filling the contemporary wing were the bold abstracts of Max Hammond and Quim Bove’, along with the colorful block imagery of Carol Redmond and fantasy figures of Ellen Skidmore and Bradford Brenner. While sipping wine and enjoying tasty hors d'oeuvres from Binkley’s the crowd was treated to the unveiling of the latest visual biography by mixed media artist Christi Manuelito. All in attendance agreed the event was a rousing success!

In Spring 2007, the Christians in Visual Arts student group at Arizona State University invited Dyana Hesson as a practicing Alumni from ASU, to speak to the group. Some of the topics discussed were:
-What was your experience like at ASU and how did it help in giving you knowledge for your career today? Do you have any suggestions or additions to what you experienced?
-What steps did you take after graduating and even during your senior year? Share some testimonies of how God blessed you and what you might have had to overcome?
-What have been some of the hard and unexpected things that this career has brought, and what it rewarding?
-What are your day to day activities and how are you able to minister to and direct people to God through your work?
The students were inquisitive and benefited greatly from the information that Dyana provided. A few students were also encouraged that Dyana’s story mirrored theirs, as she also started her artistic pursuit in college. This testimony of the different seasons of Dyana’s art career gave the students a bigger picture to look forward to in the creative world, no matter where they were in their journey. CIVA greatly appreciated this opportunity looks forward to more meetings in the future.
